what he said.
i took a pic of my guages with the truck cold and just started. the hard one is the speedo. trying to put the needle on while driving and looking at the gps for the speed at the same.... tool me about 5 min once i figured out how to hold my tongue right.
to clean the green off i used a scotch brite pad (the maroon one) and a couple drops of water and it cleaned it off just fine. just hold it up to thew light to check very often. you only want to go enough to remove the green not too far and make thin spots the light will shine through. ( i tried the scrape with knife method but found that the scotchbrite worked WAY better)
i have the ebay led bulbs in mine and it workes pretty good. my only complaint is that the odo doesnt really light up with the red
i also did under dash lights
yea ill just find an FTE member who can help with this, Ive already tried on 5 experiment dashes and fugged them up bad... I also have bad hand shake issues when i try this but Ill keep getting these things from the yard till i get them right LOL!
[quote=xc4jokestomper;10743270]well i got my new headlights in and my new dash gauge bulbs as well. my headlights still need to be reaimed because their too low but they still work decent. im going to order the bumper and corner lights that match sometime whenever the budget allows.
so when putting the needles back on the gauges you have to adjust the speedo? and do you have to remove the black back cover before removing the green film or can you just clean it off of the exposed areas?
I want white needles now... Stupid Lightnings with their orange needles! Kinda scared id screw up when putting the new needles on and my fuel gauge or speedo or tach would be off..
Wish i had Orange needles it would match my Auto Meter gauges !
You have to remove the needles and peel the black guage face carefully off the guage. Look at the back and it is obvious where the green is to clean off. Try not to clean too much tho. Do a little then hold it up to a light till there's no green left visible. The speedo was a pita to get right. Trying to drive on the hwy while holding gps and place the needle back in the right spot all at the same time is not easy lol. Take the truck for a drive before you take anything apart to get it to proper operating temp an take a picture of where all your other gauges are so you can put them back on in the same spot...

That the easiest one...Simply turn the key off...And lay the needle on the left peg..Put on and it'll correct it's self....
Really?! I fought with it for a good 1/2hour to get it right
Yeap...Because if you put the needle on the little thin metal tip, with the white part of the needle resting on the peg under 0mph....When the key is turned on, the needle will jump up to where its supposed to be...
Note-Be VERY firm with putting the needle back on...I had mine to slip back off going down the road, after I'd reassembled everything...>.<
