Squeal When Turning
Squeal When Turning
My '02 F-150 4x4 has been intermittently making a squeal on sharp turns. I only hear it at low speeds, usually when pulling in to a parking spot. It sounds like a tire squeal and only lasts a second. I recently lubed the pitman arm with a grease needle and checked the ball joints for play. Has anybody else experienced this?

this is common with trucks that have a limiti slip rear end. the LS clutch is trying to lock the two rear wheels together. AS you turn corners, the clutch needs to slip so they turn different speeds. You can get a 7 oz tube of friction modifier at Auto Zone and add to the rear axle gear lube if it gets too bad. You want a very slight grab so you know the clutch is functioning. If it grabs constantly it is anoying and will wear premature. It only happens at low speed, normally from a stop during a sharp turn.
Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention some things, I have a 3.55 regular rear axle, code 19 on the door sticker. Also the sound seems to be coming from the front end. Sorry for the mix up.
