Hi, I am a newbie here having just bought my first pick-up, a 2003 F250 4X4 Supercab Long Bed with the 5.4 V8, and I have a few questions.
The distance from the axle center-line to the top of the wheel opening is 23.5" at the front and 25.5" at the rear.
Is 2" of rake normal?
If not, I guess I need a leveling kit. I have read a bunch of posts recommending the Zone 2 1/2" leveling kit, combined with the F350 rear blocks.
My truck has an adjustable track bar already, is this aftermarket or would it have come stock?
I am also going to replace the stock front shocks with Bilstein 5100s.
Will the Bilsteins be okay at the "stock" height (considering they are designed for 2-2 1/2" lifts) until I get the Zone kit installed at a later date?
2" of rake sounds about right. it really varies truck to truck. you dont NEED a leveling kit, but it doesnt hurt you. the only thing is if you tow with your truck then the back might sag down a little bit and have opposite rake.
Welcome to FTE. 2" of rake is about right for as long as your rig is. As its been said already you dont need a leveling kit but it would hurt anything. That adjustable track bar is aftermarket, to my knowledge Ford never used one. The Bilsteins will be fine stock or with the leveling kit. They are designed for stock up to 2 inches of lift.
Thanks for your help.
I guess I will check the front suspension and steering a little closer tomorrow. I wonder why someone would put on an adjustable track bar on an otherwise stock front-end...
Gonna order the 5100s tomorrow also.
