I have an 89 f-250 351efi 4 spd w/od 4x4. What do i use in the trans, front and rear end and transfer case? and also how much. I feel the need to go through and change out all of the fluids. I am also getting alot of vibrations through the transfer case shifter on the highway. im hoping its normal. ive had other 4x4s in the past and never had that issue. it all works fine 2 4hi and 4low. any suggestions? thanks!
Changing ATF Fluid in a E4OD and 4R100 transmission .: Articles Here is a link to changing the trans fluid as I would think you have an E4OD trans. Article gives fluid capacity and type.
For the transfer case you will need a couple of quarts (approx.) of the same ATF.
For both axles you will need something like 85w90 gear oil, probably around 3qts for each. If the rear axle is limited slip you would need to add some friction modifier to the oil.

I'd recommend Synthetic fluids all the way around if you can afford them... Since you have a D50 front you don't have a drian hole... So you'll need to either drop the front drive shaft and open the diff from the backside, or get a good suction gun to suck the old diff fluid out... Either way is a pain but poping the diff open gives a more complete fluid change. Sucking it out will cost you more if you don't have a suction gun but is easier to do.
As for the Transfer Case... Hmmm... Lots of vibration in the stick is NOT normal. I have a little vibration in mine but nothing that would shake your hand considerably. If I were you... I would drop the front and rear drive shafts and take the transfer case out for a good inspection. At that point you're 1/3 of the way to poping the rear diff to drain the fluid too... If you need t-case diagrams and rebuild instructions I have a pdf I can email you (just email me here for instructions nstueve@gmail.com)
