I had a buddy hook me up with his scanner and a CPS code came up. Just odd that I have went through two, a black one the original one that came on the truck and a gray one that came from the recall. last night i put my last black one on that i got from ebay a year or so ago. Well i will keep you all posted from what happens on the way home today. It seems to only happen on the way home in the hot (120*) afternoon. I have a couple more coming in the mail to re punish mt stock.
well it did the same thing on the way home yesterday. same exact place same exact thing come to slow down and the tach drops past 500 then shuts down. put her in neutral and starts right back up. I AM AT A LOSS. i will try it in stock tune today. see if that helps

Maybe try driving home a different route.
Sorry! Couldn't resist sayin' that. Hope you get this figured out soon. I know this is frustrating.

I don't think that your CPS is 'bad'..... it may be causing the shut down, but it may be another issue tied to the CPS
When 'my' truck started having these 'shut downs' (always started right back up each and every time)..... I narrowed it down to a CPS issue that was not the CPS..... For a period my truck would run great until it
1) was raining and
2) I would drive through a big water puddle.
3) bam, truck shuts off
All things pointed to 'needing' a new CPS....
got a new CPS.....
Same problem.
I needed to 'Seal' the CPS better to the block at the o-ring with water repellant grease. No water getting in, no glitch, no shut down.
Your CPSs are most likely 'good', and it is another eletrical issue tied to it.
1)not a good seal?
2) loose connections from the 'heat' and bounceing road?
thanks for the reply
each time i used water repellent grease, and anti seize on the 10 mm bolt. should i have used no lox on the gold three pin connector ?? didn't think that the gold needed dielectric grease.it is real hot another 120* day, and i do live on a dirt road. i will triple check the connection to the cps.what other electrical issue might it be tied to .

My 'issue' was water getting past the o-ring and causing an electrical burp. With the heat that you are having it may be the grease 'melting' into the block area where the censor is at and causing an electrical burp. Clean all the grease off of everything and (don't drive through a rain storm) and see if that helps.
thanks for reply i almost pulled that apart last night. i believe that it will be coming out tonight. will i need a rebuild kit just to see if the needle is stuck ?? i have seen the kit might have to order one.
