Angry OT - crazy night

Last night's misadventure is titled "Dumb@ss teenager in a Chevy S-10 truck".

We're awakened at 2am by a tremendous boom that sounds like a bomb going off. I jump out of bed and look out the window in time to see a teenage kid running down the sidewalk towards the end of our cul-de-sac. I open the window and immediately smell gas fumes. What the hell? I look off in the direction the kid came from but can't see much out of the ordinary. There's a truck I don't recognize parked in the driveway of a house down the street but that's it. The house is on the corner of a "T" intersection a couple houses down. I go downstairs and turn our outside lights on but still don't see much. I see the kid run back and stop across the street. He is now on his cell phone yelling obscenities into it. I still have no clue what's going on so I decide against opening the door. The bedroom lights of the house where the unfamiliar truck is parked go on for a couple seconds then back off. The kid flees again and I head back upstairs scratching my head.

A couple minutes later I hear sirens and look out to see the sherrif and local police at the intersection shining their lights on the truck. I can now see debris on the driveway from what used to be my neighbor's split rail fence. I head back downstairs to see if I can point the cops in the direction of the kid because there's a good chance he was the driver. My next door neighbor joins me. He said his wife called the cops when the profanity started. We tell the cops what we can and I head back inside. Then the fire trucks and ambulance show up. I'm now wondering if there is something to be concerned about. I head back outside. There isn't any danger so I figure I'll take a little closer look at the scene.

It seems the local kids like to drive through an intersection one block down from the "T". It has a big dip in it and apparently they can catch a little air if they drive fast enough. That's a real responsible thing to do in a residential area, huh? I had never witnessed this but it certainly seems to be what this kid was attempting to do. He lost control after the dip and crossed over the road shooting a narrow gap between a tree, phone box and my neighbor's Ranger parked on the street. He proceeded to take out five or six fenceposts and a basketball hoop sunk in concrete before t-boning my neighbor's kid's car that was parked in the driveway. He hit the car with such force that it shoved the car completely off the driveway and knocked over a small pine tree. The car's door was completely caved in and the window was shattered. The kid's truck was a mess. I can't begin to imagine how fast he must have been driving. He's lucky he wasn't injured.

I did some questionable things when I was young but nothing this reckless and stupid. This kid better get his head screwed on straight or Darwin will remove him from the gene pool. Still don't know if they caught him. Shouldn't be difficult considering he left his truck at the scene.

Sheesh!

I will force my about-to-drive son to read this one. (15yr driving age in S.C.=STUPID).
"Jackass" on TV has got 'em all topping each other.
I can almost feel the 48-50 thread comin' called "Dumb things I did and wondered why I'm still around"

Looks like F777 fired the first round.
