so, ive been working to get my 03 f350 road worthy again, but i've hit a bit of a snag, my batteries were dead probably due to a bad gem module, today i was boosting the truck for about 15 using my caravan, and my mack truck on each battery, i let the glow plugs warm up for a minute then began to crank,it started cranking and then started flickering, what could the issue, bad batteries, fuses, what sort of things should i check and replace? thanks
if i don't get this truck fixed, it'll be off to the auctions, and i really don't want that ;(

Reason: Remove unnecessary foul language from thread title.
Give your batteries a full charge before trying to start the truck. Jumper cables and their low-current connections probably were the cause of the flickering power you saw.
Sometimes you have to have the patience of Job when working on these beasts.
so, I've finnaly got the truck to start, turns out i had bad batteries, lol, but no it's spewing white fume, , out of the muffler, i just cleaned the egr does this mean the egr is bad, or could it be something else
One possibility is its just unburned raw diesel. One other option is coolant leaking into the the intake, usually caused by a bad EGR Cooler. Hopefully the worst is the EGR cooler. Is it on startup only or is it continous?
if it was raw unburned diesel, what could be causing it, when i started the truck it was happening for 5+ mins. i'll check it out again to make sure though.
Well you were trying to start it unsuccessfully for a bit it sounds like, you could have run diesel down the whole length of the exhaust. I've done that before when I flood out an old carb'd truck.
