Wife took my truck while I was at work and it ran fine until all the guages went to the bottom and 30 seconds later the truck was dead. An f-350 came by and gave her a jump, said something about not being able to jump off one battery and had to use the other. She got about a mile and guages, 30 seconds, dead. Another jump same thing. Can anyone tell me what to do and keep in mind I'm a newbie, Thanks Kellly
Sounds like batteries to me. I went through this about a year ago, and let me tell ya, I feared the worst........I was thinking FICM, among other things, but the one thing that I didn't check right off the bat that I should have was the batteries. Actually someone here suggested that the batteries should've been the first thing I checked. So, I check the batteries, and guess what???? Problem solved......It was as simple as buying two new batteries.
By no means am I saying that is def. your problem, but that's what I'd check first...........call it a "lesson learned"
(Edit: Make sure though........even if only one battery is bad, replace them BOTH.
About 4 months ago I replaced both batteries with 2 new Bosch batteries. I know from other vehicles that doesn't mean they aren't bad, but, in a case like this is it O.K. to replace one if Pepboys gives me one new one because of a defect, or should I still replace them both?

If one battery is bad and you only replace it, you will have a frequent cycle of battery failures - at least that is my experience!
4 month old batteries shouldn't go bad, although there is always the occasional defective ones. Also, once the truck is running, the alternator should make enough power to keep it running, regardless of the batteries condition.
I would have your alternator tested as well. It doesn't matter how good/bad the batteries are if they aren't getting charged.
I had this happen last January. I replaced both batteries and a few days later it died again. I took my alternator to have it tested and it was bad. Put a new one on and have been good ever since.
Thats my thinking, both batteries were at 11.45 volts. Charging second one now, will start and check voltage while running. Pepboys has a reman. for 129.99 on the shelf waiting for me to pick up, by prostart. Advance has a Beck/Arnley reman for 188.99 that has Motorcraft stamped on it so I'm assuming it's oem but I don't think it's worth the extra do-re-me at this point. The new one's are out of the park. Thanks, Kelly
Thank you again, it was the alternator. Put it in along with a new belt ( it was time) and those 4 month old batteries went right up to 12.65 idleing. I know it's a little late but, all the auto parts websites said I needed the 110v alternator and the 135v was just for a 2 alternator system, which I don't have. Can you use a 135v on mine or will that mess things up. I installed the 100v. Kelly P.S Oh yeah, my A/C started working again when I put in the new alternator \m/ go figure .
Those numbers are not volts, they are max amperage output. The stock alternator is 115 amp. The stock dual alternators are 140 amp upper and 120 amp lower.
Amperage, that explains why I keep my advice on here to a minimum. Those batteries went from 11.75 up to 12.6 while I was standing there with the meter. They were still climbing but I'll check them again tomarrow. I wonder if the reason my A/C stopped blowing cold was low batteries or if it was just a coiincidence.
