Reverse Sensor Driving Me Nuts!
Reverse Sensor Driving Me Nuts!
Can someone tell me how to permanently disable the reverse sensor on my 2011 F250 Super Duty? The hitch I have is set up so that the sensor always goes off. I don't really need it because I have the rear camera option. Please help!
Can't tell you for sure on a 2011, but on my 2005 if one sensor is out none of them work. Meaning you should be able to unhook one sensor to effectively disable the whole system. If it's like my 2005, you will have the button on the dash always lit up though. Could probably unhook the beeper itself too, it should be up under the dash on the passenger side somewhere unless they moved it.
Thanks Maverick. I did this with my 2004 F250. But the 2011 is now controlled with buttons on the steering wheel via a display on the dash. Also, the alarm no longer has a separate speaker and is now routed through the stereo. I will try unhooking one of the sensors and see if that works. The Ford dealership tried going through the tech hotline and all Ford would say is that it is a safety feature and therefore it can't be disabled. My issue is that if it's a safety feature, why is it an option when ordering the truck?
I wired a switch into the speaker wires on my 02. I flip the switch (conveniently hidden in the glove box) and it disables the system. But it sounds a bit more complicated on your '11. The dealer should be able to disable it -
Is there a fuse for it?
