Cleaning injectors?

Got a question for those of you who pulled your own injectors and cleaned them while they were out. I watched a chevy technician take injectors out of a duramax and put them into a buratic acid? ( I think that's the acid they used) and a water solution. It seemed to really clean them off, looked brand new. Can we do this with our injectors? Or is there a better way?

I'd talk to Jim, he owns the Rosewood Diesel Shop and builds injectors... are you talking about cleaning the inside or the outside?

Outside I guess. He just dropped them in the bucket of solution and it started fizzing and cleaning them.

I guess that would make them look pretty, but what do you think you'll accomplish by doing this? The outsides will get dirty again when you stick them back in and start the truck up.

I would just worry about the injector internals, which is something you're better off letting someone like Jim look at when needed.

That's what I was wondering, I know the internals on our injectors are a little bit more complex. Just wondering if it would make it that far in? I was thinking more for just giving the nozzles a good cleaning.

There's no way to clean a clogged injector nozzles on these, holes are too small. Plus you'd have to completely disassemble the entire injector just to get to them. The nozzle is the last part to come out (trust me, I know from experience)

Only way to test them is a flow test, which Jim can do, and if it's clogged you need a new one.
