dana 50 question

hey guys tried to search but no avail, quick question, after doing ball joints figured i change the fluid in my front diff, got 200k on it and best i can tell its never been done. I have a limited slip rear, c9 on door sticker, (tags r long gone from axles) and know i need to use the additive in it, but do i need to run the additive in the front?

No. Not unless somebody swapped in a LS. they come open from the factory and open diffs do not need the additive

+1 on this.. LS in the front diff. can be VERY dangerous. Don't recommend them.

there's no clutches to lock up front,so i dunno why it would hurt anything.
i just flushed my D50 and used mobil 1 synthetic which has the LS additive.
there's no drain plug up there monte,so you need to send a tube down and suck it up with a pump.
this wasn't fun,but it was cheap; i went to auto zone since i had no pump for this and just got their little gas siphon hand pump.it took a while, but i got her dry all for like 3$ or so it cost for the cheap tool.i did a little searching and saw some guys bothered drilling and tapping for a plug.all for something that only needs to be changed every 100k on dino lube! and just how many miles are they putting on the front diff per year? lol.it wasn't "that" hard to pull the old juice out to warrant that kind of bother to me.

thanks guys thats what i thought but the kid @ the pats stoor had me guesing, "I dont think you need anything but oil" is not something you should tell a customer. Ya i planned on pulling it out with a hand pump i got from "hf" for like 5 bucks. no need to drill and tap a drain, or break a seal for something that dont leak now and only gets changed every 100k
