so this past december my old copper radiator decided that it had lived long enough and gave it up, so i went to my local rad shop and got a new aluminium radiator, that was all he had on hand and i needed one asap. it didnt look too bad so i ran with it, last week it started leaking around the bottom tank so i went back and he said he would replace it. got my new radiator today and i am verry much less than impressed with what his supplier sent him. so i am wondering, is there a good replacement radiator out there, or am i doomed to keep replaceing these cheap chineese beer can radiatiors forever?
copper brass is the way to go though they are considerably more expensive.... but you get what you pay for you need to measure autozone shows 2 one being copper one being aluminum but they are different sized so you may have to check oreilly or advance auto for the different sizes
i usually go with napa, i was checking what they had and they show a spectra premiumin, which is where my pos'es are from i know copper/brass rad's have better heat transfer, but im looking at the quality of the construction too
how to buy the brass/copper ready rad 432194 radiator for around $200

(verify your truck uses this size rad first though of course.)
its posted online for 305 and change (at time of this post) then you could go to shopping cart and enter "VISA" for $50 off.BUT there's a better coupon for this, for 20% off which equals a little over $60 off.so enter "P20" instead to see your total under 250 bucks for the brass and copper rad.
here you will see its lifetime warrantied as well.you'll never need to buy a second one.
have it shipped free or pick it up in the store.
don't forget to scrap your old rad!!! this should help reduce your final cost down around 200 bucks.
yup.mines seen better days.had her patched up,but shes getting weak all over.well it wasn't made just last year after all,so i guess its due.
out of a little curiosity.i did look a bit,but didn't find one online.
does anyone happen to know (doesn't matter much,im sure i wouldn't like the price anyway) if anyone does still in fact make a stock 4 row/identical brass/copper replacement?
maybe they just found that 3 larger rows do in fact cool better or just so dang close to the same that is doesn't matter than 4 smaller rows.i dunno, probably not.most likely due to cost.im sure not worried about it.just curious if anyone ever found an identical replacement is all.
update;
been using this rad problem free shortly after i made this post.
it's now 7/10/2011
if anything it works better than my old 4 row.likely just because its newer and cleaner.so i guess they know what their doing, even if it is cheaper for 'em to make.sure couldn't tell my engine its not just as good as stock.then again, who's too say what a brand new 4 row would be like either.like mentioned above though,i don't think i'll be loosing any sleep over it due to the price difference of whatever a 4 row would cost, even if someone did make it lol.
thank ya 250, ive got the other one in it now cause i need my truck back but i will be looking into something diffrent as i dont think it will take to long to shake this one apart, i swear this thing is made out of beer cans and aluminum foil
you must of got yours from the same source that ford is getting theirs from, for the 6.4l trucks.
im telling ya man.it's getting so hard to find quality parts now.it's getting beyond scary now.
used to be the cheap parts held up for a last a few years.now it seems all ya can find is the cheap stuff, and its made a 1/10 as good.
we're all forced into buying China made everything, and over and over again on the same parts on top of it.no surprise the economy is down the tubes lol.
i couldent agree with ya more, i have a hellva time trying to find anything made in
America anymore. its hard to find anything that is actually built to last more than a few years, and with all that cheapening up, you would think the price would go down.
