Side steps

The OEM side steps; are they still available? I had them on my 95 F150, and it would be nice to have them on my 97 F350. I cant find any bars or steps I really like...

They were made by Lund for Ford and are no longer available. I did a Nationwide search on Craigslist for the ones in the picture. I found them in Arizona and the seller wanted $40 for them. Of course the shipping was much more ($160) but they are hard to find. I bought them for a project truck that I sold before I finished and then sold them recently to a fellow FTE member.

Stepping it up...

I have 2 sets of these factory steps: A set for a Super Cab and a set for a Bronco. Both are in great shape except for the brackets that are rusted out beyond safe use. Does anyone know of a source for just the brackets?

dn.

A question that has been asked many times. There is no known source for the brackets.

Are you sure they were made by Lund? The factory EB, flareside steps don't look like the Lund steps you can get from JCW etc.

I believe those pictured ones are indeed the Ford ones, by the looks of the body lines and step pads. The Lund ones look different.

I would just fabricate new stronger brackets to repair them.

Yes indeed, they are the Lund version.....Look at the width...

The factory version is a LOT more shallow, and thinner-Width wise....

And are more rounded at the ends of the step.....

Please excuse the hijack, but does anyone know what is used as the seal between the step and the cab? The steps I got from the local salvage yard are missing most of the seal, and I can't determine what it is from the pieces that are left. Or maybe someone can suggest a suitable substitute.

I think you have it backwards.

Ford factory steps. They have the little round spots on the step pad.

Here is the Lund super step which does not fit or look nearly as good. Not that I'm down playing their products. Other stuff they make is alright, but these aren't.

I'd say jsut use some weather stripping or get some 3M double sided tape to help keep the step looking flush.

I personally don't like those style steps, I'm afraid of breaking it but then again not everyone goes off-road.

ok what would be some good steps for a 95 F150 XLT? I looked under the cab body and seem to have some step mount points (wltho im kinda questioning the spot as they are tiny holes and a small part of the frame) to put some steps on, but I dont have any and Im kinda wanting a step for my truck so im not constantly pulling on the steering wheel to get in (tho im considering mounting some handle bar grips you find in newer trucks as well)

As far as I'm concerned, There really aren't any nice steps besides the factory ones.

The hoop steps are no good because they just mount to the rockers and cause alot of stress on them.

The other options are the true running boards, but those don't look very good most of the time.

Then there are nerf bars. I have had them and don't care for these either. The Westin nerf bars I had mounted to part of the cab and a body mount and the frame. The problem was than when the frame flexed a little when even turning into a steep driveway, the nerf bars rear most mount would start to come loose.

While it would be nice to have, I wouldn't try mounting pull handles on the pillars. I bet you will just end up with broken pillar trim. While we are taking about these, please do not drill holes in the exterior of the cab for the awful chrome handles.

I was looking into the N-Fab hoop nerfs as well which look real nice, but for our trucks they are only available in powdercoated steel, plus they seem to mount on the body which I'm not impressed with

well if i got the chrome handle bars (again due to my smaller size and one of my buddies literally has to be lifted into the truck so thats partly why i would adapt it to him also) I would repaint them a nice black color because too much chrome is also a bad thing...bleh...I like chrome but I like to keep a nice balance of chrome and non chrome, but meh I would rather steps to be honest as steps I can mount and use and if they get torn up big deal pull them off and put new on, and I don't care too much for looks verses function, if they get torn ill run to PAP and get another set, so yea function is what im after...
