I've searched the older posts but it doesn't seem like there's been a solution posted to my problem, so here goes. My two FOBs (for 2002 F350 SD) seem to become un/deprogrammed on a regular basis. I'll program them one day and they might work for a couple of hours or a couple of days but then all of a sudden the progamming is lost and they don't work anymore. I'll reprogram then and then the same thing happens. I've checked the batteries - they're both good. One FOB is well worn. I've used it almost exclusively since the beginning. I've switched to using the newer one because it seems somewhat more consistent. I'm wondering if I need to get at the unit / location that the FOBs communicate with? Anyone know what and where that is?
Chris, I passed the problem you are having by a guy I know who has been in the garage door business for 30+ years. He says when fobs stop working OR become sporadic in operation on electric garage doors, it is almost always the receiver which has gone bad, rarely the fob. I guess a test could be to borrow a known good working fob from someone else, program to your truck and see if it loses contact with your truck (un/deprogram). If it did, then we know the problem is on the receiver end...if it doesn't then it must be the fobs.
