You wires must be taped further down if you didn't remove any tape.
I can't even see mine. Found them only by feel.
The tape is holding all four wires directly behind the black end pieces.
There was taped as you suggested. After removing the tape, I now have about 2.5" to work with!
That area is soooo tight, I can't even get a mirror above it to look down behind the distribution box.
I'm going to try one more time today. I'm trying to run a wire up to the up fitter switches for the garbage truck alarm shutoff that Beezil wrote up.
It's time for you to post your update.
I need to run a wire from my upfitter switches externally also.....
Garbage Truck option
Thx

Here you go:
I did the Beevil relay to upfitter mod for the garbage truck alarm. Works great. If someone can tell me how to upload a video, I will put one on this thread.
Two consideration I kept in mind. The first that at some point my cab may need to come off of the truck, so everything was run through the frame path.
Secondly, I finally got smart and ran extra wires so that when I went to do later mods, the wires were already there.
This picture is under the hood. It shows the connection I made from the wire that ran to the back of the truck to the pass throughs that go through the dash. It is the shrink wrapped one. I'll explain the other wires in a minute:
This picture is of the wire bundle I ran from the back of the truck to the front. There are two other smaller gauge wires that are tucked away behind the distribution box. These two wires are 8 & 10 gauge. One will be used for a salter box when I put one on.
This picture is under the dash on the driver's side. There is a large bundle of wires that pass through the firewall on my truck. A number are available for the PTO option I have. I selected a small gauge wire out of the bundle of 4 everyone should have. The other wire comes from the relay panel for the upfitter switches. I selected upfitter switch 3 since it is the lowest rated one and was more than capable of carrying the relay and power for the alarm.
This picture is at the back of the truck on the passenger side. Right behind the bumper. I did the cuts to the wires from the alarm and from the power source (reverse lights) to the waterproof Hella relay. Just a comment on the relay. It was Beevil's suggestion and it is a top notch waterproof relay. You can see a part of it in the picture but it is tucked up and secured above the bracket where the wires can be seen.
This picture is of the wire bundle I ran. It was taken by the driver's side rear shock. All 5 wires are in the bundle and are completely taped (good thing I have kids). My bundle (the one on top) was run from the back of the truck up the driver's side frame rail following the wires that the factory ran. At the engine compartment, there is a bundle of factory wires coming up to the engine compartment. I followed this up and secured it to the factory wiring. Additionally, where the segments of conduit connect together, I marked those so I could find them later to make a cut if I elected to put something like a compressor in the middle of the truck.
My next mission is the ECCO strobes. Sorry for taking so long to get this posted.
I have found 4 wires (just the very ends), behind the BIG fuse box.
They are taped down, once I remove the tape, I'll be able to see them better.
I still need COLOR to use.
I also have the PTO option, which means more wires under the dash...
Thx Y2KPSD
Ah colors... Upfitter switch #3 is violet/green. This is a 10A line, more than enough to do the mod. It is under the dash but higher up in the dash from where your PTO wires are at. Look beyond the PTO wires, you will see them. Up#1 Yellow, Up#2 Green/Brown, Up#4 Brown.
As for the pass throughs, pick the smallest on the 4 wires that are near that power distribution box to connect to your wire to the back of the truck. In my underhood pictures, I used a 16 gauge red wire. You can see that I connected it to a smaller wire.
My recommendation is to run extra wires to the back of the truck. It took me the better part of a day to do it right, but I have enough wires going to the back for most anything I want to add.
Forgot to add, for the under dash connection, all you need to do is connect the pass through wire to the violet/green upfitter switch. Most of the real work is connecting the relay bundle up at the rear of the truck.
Here is the under dash upfitter wire connection to the pass through:
Not to sound to dumb but i just tried for an hour to connect to the pass through wires behind the power box, My hands are to big to hold it and crimp it.
