My 1990 Ford Bronco (300 I6) fuel pump doesn't want to turn on.
Awhile back I washed the engine out but it did run with no problem afterwards. Then one day I was leaving work, the fuel pump didn't want to turn on. I went and got a relay for it and the pump came on. Well it did it again another day but I wiggled or did something to the relay and the pump came on. It ran good for like a week and now yesterday the pump doesn't want to come on.
My fuel relay isn't clicking but the other relay is. I went and bought another fuel relay and it doesn't want to click. ANY IDEAS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS?!?!
I check the ground on the driverside and it is fine.
Check/replace the inertia switch behind the driver's side kick panel. Loose connections or a tripped switch will cause the symptoms you are describing. The switch has a red plunger in the top that pops up if it is tripped. Its designed to cut fuel supply in the event of a collision however as they get old, the connections get weak between it and the harness and sometimes the latching mechanism weakens causing false tripping.
