E40D OD SPRAG
Ok i rebuilt my e4od took it for a ride and it shifted fine untill it tried ot come out of od it seemed to hold the truck back untill it came out of 4th. Then it strated to make whirling sound. I pulled it out and found out that the od sprag came apart and the rollers are all jamed up and the plastic cage is chewed up. My question is that could this just of been a faulty od sprag or could of there been other factors to cause this problem? Thaks

The overdrive sprag has to hold during a forced 4-3 downshift, I think based on what you described that it just let go.
Clean it up and give it another try, hopefully you will have some better luck this time.
