i have a pretty bad gas leak coming from my rear tank. i cant find exactly where its coming from, but the fuel is collecting and dripping from the frame side strap that holds up the tank. i cant even use my front tank because all the gas just leaks into the back tank, and then onto the floor. is there a common place for these to leak gas, such as a fuel line? or do i most likely need a whole new tank? the fill stem seemed pretty dry. truck in sig.
I had a pretty evident leak on my rear tank. Couldn't find the hole, but when I dropped the tank, the strap was the only thing hold the tank together. 20 years of rust had eaten spots thin enough that when the strap tension came off, it pulled the rust and opened the holes.
I have some doubts; if using the front tank makes the rear tank drip maybe you have a problem with the check valves in the tanks and the fuel is going to the rear tank. Does this occur when you have your tank full or always?
If it is just when it is full it may need replacing the seals of the tank pump and if it happens always you may have a hole on your tank.
Hope this helps.

it seems to be worse when more gas is in it. i usually have alot of gas in it so il have to run it a little lower and see if the leak stops. what does replacing the tank pump seals entail? wouldnt i have to drop the tank anyway?
I replaced my rear tank seal, I just took the bed off, alot easier for me since my tank was about 1/2 to 3/4 full, also I noticed the seal "ring" was crooked, so to be safe I replaced the seal, and put the ring back on correctly, and VOILA it fixed the leak.
If the seal of the pump is the problem it will only leak when full, after driving for few miles (on a plain terrain) it will stop. If it doesn’t then you have another problem and definitely will need to drop the tank.
If I was you I would use the rear tank until it was empty, then I would activate the front tank and see if the fuel goes to the rear tank.
This will get the factor of the check valves being bad and with the empty tank I would drop the tank to work on it.
