Dumb ?
Trying to find the vacuum leaks,Anytime a vacuum line is "pinched off" and the RPM changes for the better does this indicate the element being supplied the vacuum is bad and not holding the vacuum. The vacuum line to the throttle body when pinched will correct engine idle.What in the throttle body leaks vacuum?God BlessJohn

I think you may have it backwards.
The Throttle Body is the vacuum source, being the first point of access from the reciprocating pistons & valves which are the true vacuum source. Pinching off the vacuum line at the throttle body stops vacuum from going to whatever it is connected to. Typically vacuum starts at the valve body, and does not go to the valve body.
A handheld vacuum pump can be used to test diaphragms, vacuum motors, solenoids / switches, and other areas of potential leaks. Most leaks come from the vacuum tubing itself and where ever they connect.
