from what ive read so far, a rear shackle flip will add around 3", but the only kit i can find is for a late 70s f250, i need a 73. sku manufacturing says its 78-97
what is the equal lift to do for the front?
ive been searching and reading everyhting i can find but im just confusing myself
ive been watching craigslist constantly for the past week. not a single set of 35's in my area. sf bay area
15's are definitely the cheapest. since 16 isnt very common. and tire rack usually seems to have the lowest prices and its about 1100 for 17" 35's. and around 800 for 15's.
the truck needs a lot of upgrades. im trying to school myself on a power steering conversion, and after that, maybe power assist brakes like my old 71 xlt had. also need to find the best price on a 4" lift. any suggestions?
you normally won't find 16" tires in standard inches (will have to find Metric)
33's are gonna give more choices Tire Products By Vehicle - Discount Tire
more expensive than than 35's for MTR's but there are some cheeper choices (like the Geolanders by Yokohama f o $160 ea)
haha im stupid, my 17s are on my mustang, which is 5 lug, that wont fit on the truck haha.
ive narrowed it down to maybe some 305/70/16's, or buy some 15" wheels and tires.
if i lifted the truck, the 33's would look small i think, so i would want 35's. but in order the fit the 35's, the truck has to be lifted 2" i believe.
i think ill probably go with a 33" tire (305/70/160, and get highboy springs. i think highboy suspension is higher than a f250 4x4 correct? or are all f250 4x4's considered highboys?)
For the rear shackle flip you can take the hanger from the front of your rear springs an move it to the rear. Next you would use the front hanger from a 2wd drive truck and put that where your previous hangar was.
Shy away from sky jacker. they are a great company and I love how my highboy rides now, but if price is your weak link you can check out deaver spring and they can make you up some nice springs or if you can find a trick shop around your area they can make you some too. Or when worse comes to worse, go grab a couple set of leaf springs that are the same width of your leaf and you can build your own pack of leafsprings.
Any one ever use springs from Chevys or dodges or vans or somethin? Is it as easy as taking a tape measure and measuring the length? Like from bushing to bushing?
Well I have heard that standard lift gas superduty springs will gain you a couple inches of lift. You may want to look for those.for the rear grab the 63 inch chevy spring and do a shackle flip.
Just go to the junk yard find a pre 77 f250 and get the front and rear springs from the true hi-boy trucks and it will give you 4" of lift if they were not beat to crap cost you maybe 150 bucks.:
