I have been looking for a new wiring harness for my 78 f-250 4x4 supercab. I havent had any luck. Does anyone have a clue or might know were to find one? Thanks.
I plan on building my own on my truck when I get to that point. There are only like 4 wires going to the back, and not that many anywhere else. I'm gonna find some better waterproof connectors if I can, if not I'll just do away with them completely.

Do you mean a model specific harness? If so, I doubt there is an aftermarket manufacturer. At least none I know of.
I just used a painless harness to rewire my truck and it was pretty easy (if you take your time).

There are several different wiring harnesses that make up the wiring system in your truck. It's not just a single harness.
The main harness is the "instrument panel to dash panel wiring assy." This is the one under the dash. There are sub-systems like AC and courtesy lights that are not included in the main harness.
On this harness alone there are 12 possibilities. Gauges or idiot lights, with or without aux. fuel and the s/n all make a difference in the part number.
The typical truck also has engine, alternator, headlight, taillight and frame wiring harnesses.
Post the info on your truck and I'll look up the harness number and see if I can locate one.
On the serial number, is it before BE0001, between BE0001 and CA0001 or after CA0001? Does it have gauges or lights and does it have aux. fuel tank?
Hey Mike what's the deal? Are there specific aftermarket harnesses available or are these OEM harnesses that you are looking up?
It would be OEM numbers and I'd do a search to see if a dealer or obsolete parts supplier would have one in stock.
The smaller harnesses I can usually find but the main harness can be impossible.
If you're a real purist,I found one company that can reproduce any wiring harness with dead on accuacy. They have their own tool and die makers onsite to make the molds for the terminals if they don't already have them, but......they are expensive for the custom stuff.

Good to know.
Thank you.
I dig small business folks.
Going to add them to my info list.
