I think I need to replace the complete wiring harness on my 72 highboy. Its been giving me trouble for some time, The truck sat for a long time and some rats did a number on it. Where is the best pleace to get the complete harness or is it just easier to make it myself?
Today I ordered a Painless Wiring Harness for my '69 F-100 from Jegs. It's a 12 circuit with switches for something like $683. I have supported these sponsers since I bought this truck and will continue, but I did go off the reservation for this one.

My neighbor builds customs, restores classics, and he prefers Painless wiring harnesses.
From 1965 thru 1972, you can use two Mustang wiring harnesses under the hood. The 45/55 and 60 amp alternators used on 1965/72 Mustangs were the same as used on many of the trucks. They both have the same three wire connectors. Trucks and Mustangs used the same exact voltage regulators.
The engine feed looms are also similar on 302 and FE equipped trucks and 1967/69 289/302/390 Mustangs. Trucks and Mustangs use the same temp senders, starter solenoids, oil sender switches, electric chokes, starters, horn relays, voltage regulators, distributors, coils, and some of the same emissions garbage.
The Mustang looms have been reproduced, and are available from FTE sponsors Dennis Carpenter, NPD, and other Mustang restoration parts suppliers. You will have to splice these looms into the truck wiring harnesses.
You can also use the headlamp harness looms from a 1965/68 & 70/72 (not 1969) Mustang. There are different setups, but something is better than nothing. The headlamp plugs are identical, as are the marker lights and some of the parklamp plugs.

take a look at ron francis he has accually been around longer than painless and I prefer his harness to painless. Also cheaper than painless. but it is a prefrence so do a little research befor you drop 600 on a painless kit.
One of the problems with NPD is that you need to buy 3 diffrent harneses to do a compleate truck, which runs about 800, but if you are doing a contours correct you may need to spend the extra cash.
