Hope you guys can steer me in the right direction.
I've had this noise in my truck for some time now, and can't quite seem to figure it out. On dry/hot days, when coming to a stop with the truck, I hear a clunk noise I suppose you can say. When that Happens, I feel a slight vibration under my feet. It happens lets say 3 out of 5 times or so. Recently now when at a complete stop and I start to take off, I hear a groan as the truck starts going, but only @ a complete stop. On rainy days, all the above noises are non-existent! No clunk no groan no nothing (the way it should be)!
I've had it looked at a few times by the ford dealership and a private mechanic and so far no dice. So far I've had:
Slip Yoke replaced and greased properly
Sway bar bushings replaced
Both mechanics have checked out the front end and everything is tight with no slop at all. This noise is driving me nuts! I'm hoping someone here has had the same or similar issue and can help me out!
I was thinking maybe dried up ball joins causing this?
Water is a temporary lubricant. Ever go down a pool slide or stand in a bathtub when it's dry versus when it's wet? Water can have the same lubricating effect on metal parts under a vehicle.
