If you are on snow or loose dirt, you shouldn't be getting extra noise in 4wd. If you are on dry solid ground you will get noise and bad vibrations when you turn.
Check your front u-joints in the axle and in the driveshaft . Could be one freezing up from lack of greese . Front drive shaft could be worn , that causes vibration also .
What speeds do you notice the vibrations ?
That sounds like a bad u-joint or a hub. i just had a bad vibration in mine, turned out to be a bad u-joint on the drivers side axle shaft, picked up a new joint and on my way home from the parts store the old one failed and exploded the yokes on the shafts now its time to find a new axle shaft
Front U-joints are a chronic problem on the center split axle trucks. Usually water gets into the U-joints and one side rusts up while the other side wears out when you steer. Once you get too much slop in the joint it tends to bind cause all kinds of vibration when you turn and can be quite dangerous when steering into or out of certain corners. I almost put the truck in the ditch one time as my steering locked up as I tried to come out of a right turn. CHECK THOSE U-JOINTS. Worn U-Joints will put a lot of stress on the Power steering box and pump. Ended up replacing them both.
