Thanks Dave! But my truck's body is nowhere near what yours is now. I dream of a day when my truck looks as clean as yours.
HaHa, have you seen my floorboards? Now, I see what you mean about the aftermarket fenders lining up. My first one is on and the second one will be in a day or three. Oh well, fudge a little here, fudge a little more there, at least there's no more rust.
Thanks Andre for supplying the answer. I have been quite busy with all the hurricane clean up and haven't had much of a chance to work on the truck. Did do some plumbing today though. Pretty much just down to the wiring.
How much of a difference did the four barrel and manifold make? I have stock stuff and mine hogs gas and runs poor.
Well I would say that you are not running correctly. Could use a serious overhaul. Depending on the transmission and gearing, you should be doing decent on gas with a proper functioning 1bbl "system". The 4bbl made a big difference! So far I am seeing the same mileage as I was prior(also with a poor running feedback 1bbl system), but I admittedly am having a LOT more fun. The kind of fun that doesn't help mileage.
Josiah,
I have a tubing beading tool.
Going to have to pick up a couple of radiator scoop tee's and sweat up some cleaner looking connections for your heated spacer.
Those things hanging from your heater hose must weigh a ton.
(what's the OD of the connections?)
Still have a stumble?
Do you think it's the accelerator pump?
Haha, yeah, they definitely weigh quite a bit. At the time, it was what I could find that fit decently. There has been a decent amount of talk about the need for the heated spacer recently, so I may eliminate it, or just run the line through it as opposed to using the T-connectors.
As far as the stumble, it is extremely minimal. I am going to have to spend some time with the holley book and start getting it tuned in real nice. Aaron and I talked briefly the other day about maybe dyno tuning the truck somewhere. I absolutely want to learn and know how to tune it myself, but there is something to be said for a professional. I will certainly never be a professional with it. Certainly haven't made any decisions, just tossing ideas around.
If I may weigh in on this. A couple of items, first you will have a stumble and it will be worse in cold weather unless you provide some kind of heat for the intake manifold itself. Second, I found that if you place the primary barrells outboard you will get better mixture distribution during part throttle running.
Hey Joshua,
I hope you don't mind all the questions. Since I didn't pull this motor and just had it delivered on a pallet, I have a feeling there will be a lot of ("What is this?) and (Where does this go?" questions in the future.
But for now I am curious where you got that oil fill cap that fits the pcv valve hole? My valve cover has 2 different holes
TIA
David
Surprisingly, I was able to get the size I needed at autozone, and nowhere else around. It is significantly smaller than what you typically find. If I remember correctly, it was a 3/4" diameter.
