Help with a 6.0
I posted this to the 6.0 forum and have had no input yet, just womndering if anyone around here can help out. I told him to hold off on approving the dealership work until I checked on FTE...
Hi All,
I have a buddy here at work that has got an 07 Reg Cab Auto 4x4. On his way home last Thursday coming up to a stop sign the truck began to slightly Rev up (on deceleration) almost like it was in neutral, once he came to a stop the truck would not move, only rev. He shut it off and back on again and it drove fine the rest of the way home with no issues. Monday he was leaving work and before he left the parking spot the truck began to rev to almost 3k on its own. He limped it into the Stealership and they told him it was throwing a Turbo code (trying to find the exact number now).
Any ideas on what would cause this? Maybe a bad Throttle Position Sensor? Any help is greatly appreciated...

Sounds like he didn't have the Engine Damage Avoidance System installed did he?! 
Sorry I couldn't resist.
I'm no 6.0 expert but I don't see how a turbo issue could make it do this. Sounds to me like the Ford Stealership is just reading the DTC and is ready to throw parts at it. I think he had better get it out of there and take it to someone who is a reputable diesel technician, not just a parts changer.
TPS would make sense, but there are two separate sensors there that would have to fail simultaneously for this problem to occur (TPS and IVS) so I'm not guessing that is the issue either. The issue with it not moving and only revving makes me think that there may be a potential PCM issue at play here. Especially since it corrected itself when he shut it down and re-started it. That's my WAG...
