Can't wait to find out if I'm going to be keeping my vehicle or not so I can get this done.

hey, as a FYI for the 2011 guys

2008-2010 cameras and mirrors are different from 2011 models

Ford changed the wire colors and on the mirror, they switched the pinouts slightly.

Here is the mirror pinout (and wire colors) you need for your 2011. I installed this setup in my 2006 about 2 weeks back and ran into alot of problems until I figured out what was going on

This is perfect information but how do you locate this connector?

my setup is complete. I've had it working since August. I used 2010/2011 mirror and camera from a F-150. Had to custom wire from tailgate to mirror though since the F-150 harness won't work obviously in my truck.

I'm currently re-wiring the tailgate to add a door lock solenoid. If I remember, I'll try to make a short video of the reverse cam setup

You can use any camera you want. The mirror uses a + & - input. So simply run that to the right pins on mirror and your golden.

What type of diode do you need to do this and where can you get one, radio shack? Thanks for your help.

I only have a 2009/2010 Workshop DVD. I'll look at it later and see what the trigger wire is for the Rear Mirror Camera. There is a wire from the Inst. Cluster that runs to the Rear Mirror. This triggers the LCD display on, which in turn powers the Rear Camera on.

You wire the diode so that you don't reverse feed that trigger wire. That way, whenever you flip the upfitter switch, the mirror/camera is turned on.

I'll post up pics in a few hours of the Wiring Diagram.

edit: btw, that write-up you posted up is amazing 1975StroppeBaja! I hadn't even considered doing an electronic 4x2 low range. I was just going to install manaul hubs

I used 1N4001 diodes. The radio shack website says they have them...

I have the back up camera on d tailgate. I installed the Lockpik on my truck to bypass nav input and DVD player while driving. Other benefit was I can also view my rear camera while driving to check on my trAiler. Pretty good buy for what it enables. Also gives option to add another camera if you wanted to. No cut wires just plugs into nav harness.

I'm wanting to grab a factory nav unit for a 08 and put into my truck with a lockpick

So I'm looking at that schematic but not exactly sure which wire I'm looking to tap into on a 2011 in mirror camera. Could someone just simply let me cheat and spit out the answer! LOL, Thanks!
