Will Phosphoric Acid cause me more problems?

I'm doing some work on the floor pan of my 79 F150 and I'm not sure if I should cut more of it out or not. I've removed the worst part on the passenger side so far. My plan was to use phosphoric acid to neutralize the rust, then prime it, then patch the holes with fiberglass and paint everything.

Will the acid cause me problems if it gets into the seam where the floor plan sits on top of the rockers? Should I try to wash it out or neutralize it with something and then try to get some paint in there? I plan to eventually replace the floor with repair pans, but I don't want my rocker panels to start rusting too.

I will in the snow, they mostly just use sand here. And we really only get any real accumulation 4-5 times a year

Phosphoric acid will only eat into the rust; it won't damage clean steel if left in the seam - unlike some acid eg sulfuric.
You can let it dry & prime over the residue, but I wash it off if it's in a place that I can dry the water up reasonably quickly.

My concern was that it may eat the paint off of the rocker panel and that I wouldn't be able to get it covered again in the seam. Will it remove the paint?

I've never had it bother paint, but you could test a small place first.

People use this stuff all the time, no one knows for sure? I'm ready to get started but don't want to rush and end up worse off.

Phosphoric acid (like concrete etcher) won't affect the paint. Neutralize it with water, dry it off, and then wipe with wax/grease remover before applying a top coat.

I got some in a couple of seams, should I try to spray water in there or just let it be?

I wiped some phosphoric acid on a couple places where the paint had chipped off on my truck and it did seem to affect the paint a bit. It made it look oxidized but didnt do anything else.

It can discolor paint, so that's an issue if it's in a visible area, but it doesn't eat it away.

Never heard of using this. Do you just pour it over the rust? I was going to sandblast the bottom of my cab, but maybe this would be better.
