Okay my expedition is falling apart within the past week the back A/C started making a noise, the vent windows wont open, my peddles motor is stuck, and the cruise control stopped working. I replaced the actuator on the back A/C and now it only blows hot air. Theres alot wrong with my Expo but It's all I have so Im willing to pay the money to fix it help me out here guys.
There are two actuator controls for the rear air, one controls the the location (out the top vents or bottom vents) and the other controls the source (heater or a/c). If you are blowing hot out the top, it sounds like the actuator controlling location is working. Now the question, is your rear a/c working? If so, you need to replace the other actualtor and all will be well. If the a/c is not working you'll need to diagnose that issue (mine stopped working at 40k miles and turned out to be a clogged expansion valve). Can't help with the other issues but since vent windows and cruise are electrical I would check all my fuses.
Okay so I have looked over it today. The back a/c switches from top to bottom and it also switches from hot to cold no problem its just that no cold will come out. When I put it on heat though, It works fine. So if it is a rear expansion valve how do I fix this? or is it a problem for the dealership. Also, the fuses are all good but nothing that I mentioned above still works.
In my case Ford paid for half and it still cost me about $400 to fix. I know they had to remove the rear folding seat and the qtr panel trim. My guess is a good A/C shop would be much cheaper. I don't know much about the rear A/C systems.
