4R100 questions about shift and torque convertor lock.

I am start think I do have trouble with transmission.

It 00 F350 but stick on cab say 7/99.

It had 214K miles it shift great no slipping. Haul 22K lb of stuff that was WRONG.

It been shift strange when you drive 1 to 3 gears it doesn't lock torque convertor but when it get in 4th it lock correct.

When you lift off gas in 1-3 gears rpm go back to idle from 2K rpm. But in 4th gear it stay there because torque convertor.

This is almost exact what my Uncle's 00 F350 2wd did but he only had 93K miles. But his truck is strange. When you stop at light and lift off brake pedal it jerk about 2" like transmission were stuck in 1 gear try push truck go.

my friend's 01 f350 with 70K miles did different it like you drive with 5.4L with tran shift correct.

It worth to check valve body for trouble? I just want made sure my transmission is 100% perfect.

That's correct.

That is not because of the torque converter, it is the way the trans works. There is always engine braking in 4th gear, but there is only engine braking in gears 1-3 when the OD OFF light is on, or when the shifter is in the 1 or 2 positions. It doesn't matter if the torque converter is locked or not. This is normal operation.

His torque converter clutch is drifting on. There are several potential causes, low trans fluid, loose or missing internal filter, leaking seals, sticking valves, or a worn pump.

It should work exactly the same as yours.

Friend's 01 F350 is different how it shift and lift off gas it stay at 1500 rpm in 3 gear.

Mine drop to idle.

I will try get video of both trucks.

I notice when tow 22K pounds it doesn't lock torque convertor in 3 gear but overdrive button was off so I thought it normal.

Until I finish haul load and check transmission cooler. It wasn't what I want feel. It way HOT HOT

I was thinking of upgrade to bigger transmission cooler with electric fan to help.
