I believe your intake should bolt onto your block, but I'm not sure. Don't worry about the computer as long as that '72 engine is relatively stock power wise. Re-use all of your wiring.

What if its not quite stock. It has a scat 349 stroker and some larger unknown cam that requires at least a 2500 stall converter if i get an auto donor truck.

There is no factory Ford EFI computer that will run that engine well. I suspect even a conversion to mass-air using a Mustang computer would not be ideal for that engine. It would most likely need custom tuning.

Yeah that's not gonna work, but if you take out the cam and swap in something EFI friendly it'll run fine with a 5.8 PCM substituted.

I was talking to a buddy and he said i could use the engine and cam i have but in order for it to work id have to swap out the distributor drive gears. Im trying to find more in this but he is very knowledgeable and hasnt lead me astray so far. I dont know if anyone could or does have any more information on this. Greatly appreciate all the input.

That would make it mechanically compatible but it still won't make it compatible with the EFI system in your truck.

I believe the 4.9 and 5.0 use the same engine cradle, so it should be pretty straight forward.
