Went to pickup some hay and couldn't get the tailgate open. Where can I find the white plastic clips that hold the metal rods onto the tailgate handle bracket thing. (What is it even called?). The drivers side rod was not connected, and both plastic snaps are broken.
Maybe replace the whole assembly with a locking model?
If those are available separate I am sure they are dealer only. After you replace them, you may want to lube up the latches on the sides of the tailgate, they may be hanging up.
Tailgate is newer, The truck(at least the bed), was painted, and the tailgate is newer and does not match the paint color of the truck. I was told that the dealer replaced it right before it was sold to me in Feb.
This tailgate is squeaky clean, no marks, or scratches. These stupid plastic clips are a faulty design. If I could weld it would be a easy fix...
Those plastic clips are available from the dealer, at least that's where I got mine for an 04 Superduty. I bet you could get them from NAPA, they carry a lot of those little parts that commonly fail.
