Question Drivetrain Slack

I have a 72 f100, 2wd 390, c6, 9 in rear two piece drive shaft. When you try to accelerate hard from a stop, it seems like something is slipping, then after maybe half a second it seems to grab. It makes a loud clunk noise and takes off. Thought maybe the trans is slipping, but if you hold your foot on the brake and give it gas it doesn't seem to slip at all. Just starts spinning the tires. Any ideas???

Grease the slip yoke in the driveshaft.

Forgive me for being dumb, but are you talking about the end that goes into the trans?

That one might have some of the problem, but most of it will be in the slip in the rear shaft.
