Ok it's been a while but I've been stuck in vW land for a while and at whits end over the vibration in my 65 f100 352 C6 2wd after replacing the center U-joint for the second time in three months Iv'e come to the conclusion something is wrong in slipjoint land. If I grab the rear section of the driveline I can wiggle it. If I disconnect the rear of the driveline and remove it, it only slips on about an inch to an inch and a half. If I shove the shaft forward about another inch, no wiggle. I'm wondering if the PO put the wrong shaft in it or what. The center shaft is right where it should be and is adjusted towards the rear as far as I could get it to try and get more bite on the slip joint. Any Advise? All I can think to do is to get a longer female slip joint as even when loaded down there is still 2 inches or so of spline showing.
Thanks Guys for any Ideas, I'm sure this is where my vibration is coming from and I did just replace the rear trans mount as well.

You sure it's a C6? Not available until 1968 in F100/350's.
If the transmission's output shaft is scored, that not only will cause a noise, but a vibration.
I can give you all the measurements for the slip yokes, but I dunno what they're from....if you have a C6.
All the slip yoke specs are listed in: TEXT Section 48.6 / page 2.
Don has the parts catalog, what I suggest is look at his catalog, see if you can find what you have now, what you need.
Hey Bill, thanks for the info. It is a C6 as i just had it rebuilt. Everything coming out of the trans is tight it's the slip joint behind the center or Carrier bearing in the 2 piece driveline and I don't see any signs of that support mount being moved so I assume that the original automatic was the same length. and the male section seems to be fine. Is this something that Drivelines NW would carry or would I have to have the rear section lengthened? what about putting in a one piece driveline? Very frustrating.

Assuming the rear driveshaft (Ford=coupling shaft) and slip yoke is the original, what trans did the truck originally come with?
I believe it had the cruizomatic or 2 speed originally but was replaced for the better C6 every thing looks original from the output back. thanks Bill.
yea garbz they are checked and rechecked, the problem is with the slip only being about an inch on the spline. if I disconnect the rear u-joint and slide it forward a little the wobble goes away. Thanks
Let's see if I got it in the right order:
C6
Slip yoke with U-joint
Front driveshaft
Carrier bearing
Male splines
Female splined yoke
U-Joint
Rear driveshaft
U-Joint to differential.
If this is correct, then the PO who changed it out did exactly what I did - except they cut the front driveshaft too short.
If this is your setup, your easiest, cheapest and best bet is to take the entire driveline down to a machine shop, and have them make you a new one piece driveshaft.
The trans yoke will provide the slip necessary, and you won't have any more old slip joint to worry about - and even if you lengthen one of the 2, you still will have worn spline joints and the problem will return eventually.
They can cut out the front yoke off the front driveshaft, cut out the rear yoke off the rear driveshaft, and put it all in a single tube for you.
That's it Banjo! you got it thanks that's what i'd really like to do. How much slip is there in the front yoke? My other idea was to move the carrier back about an inch but wasn't sure if I had that much yoke to play with. I have air shocks on it and don't put that much in it maybe 2 yrds of bark once in a while so yea i'd really like to do the one piece set up. Can you remember about what they charged you for that? Thanks again and i think I told you my dad is in the Grays Harbor Banjo Band. Love it my son has played with them a few times even.

The MX 3 speed Cruise-O-Matic is what your truck came with originally.
The last 2 speed Ford-O-Matic was used in 1961 F100's with the 223 I-6.
As original:
C5TZ4841F .. Slip Yoke / Use with Driveshaft
6" O/A length / 1 3/4" O.S. diameter.
------------------------------------ TDAA4841A .. Slip Yoke / Use with Coupling Shaft (rear driveshaft)
Thank you for the numbers Bill, correct again it was the cruise-o-matic can you use your vast knowledge base to find out if there is another year truck i could look at that maybe had a one piece driveline i could use or am i stuck with having one made? I guess I could get a longer slip joint but would rather eliminate the whole Carrier bearing and extra U-joint. I want this truck to be easy to maintain as i don't ever plan on getting rid of it and stock isn't really a concern of mine as long as it stays Ford all they way. Thanks again

banjopicker66 nailed it...you'll prolly have to have a new driveshaft made up.
Ford did not offer a one piece driveshaft until after 1972 on 8' Regular Cab Stylesides, but...these trucks have a longer wheelbase.
I believe I read somewhere that John (jowilker) has a one piece driveshaft on his, so you could ask him what he used.
