My F-250 has been running fine. A day or two ago, I started the truck and went a block or two and lost all power. I pulled over and the truck would start, run for about 6 seconds and then completely die. I did that three or four times. I finally figured it had to be something with the alternator. I had just replaced the alternator about three or four weeks earlier. There are two sets of wires going to the alternator,
One set plugs into the top of the alternator and the other set bolts on. The set that bolts on looks to be the main power from the alternator.
It appears the set that plugs in was in distress (pulled very tight and bent 90 deg. at the plug) so I moved them where they didn't appear to be so tight. I started the truck and it ran fine all the way home.
So, what is that wire for, and does that sound like the fix for my problem?
