Water pump install
I am about to install a new/rebuilt water pump in my 6.9 I read somewhere that if improperly installed, it can damage or destroy the injection pump. Anybody know what this is about?

The top two bolts go into the gear cover on the engine and if longer bolts are used they will bottom out on the pump gear. Good news is most water pumps come with the correct bolts for this position

When I did mine as I took the bolts out I put them in the corresponding holes of the new pump and wen I took the old pump off eng I put it beside the new one and put the bolts back in it and compared the two pumps the reason is that some of the pumps are a different casting and they are thicker if you put the long bolts in the thiner pump you will take out the tmieing gear . a A costly mistake

Ahhh. A light bulb goes off in my head. I was thinking there was some kind of timing issues, or over tightening issues. I was trying to figure out how a belt-driven device could affect a separate gear-driven device.
