The motor is a 60 over 390 (so about 401 cubes) Stock heads rebuilt, Speed Pro pistons with zero deck to get slighty over 10:1 compression, comps XE262 cam, Edy performer intake, Holley DP 650 carb, ignition is stock besides the re-curved duraspark dizzy that really helps the preformance below 3000 rpm.
Ah, Clearfield, that was one pull that I missed. Even if I'm not pulling I usually go just to watch. Had a few buddies pulling there in 2.6 diesel. Truck looks good and sounds great. I'm putting together a 390 right now for a buddy's Highboy, pretty similar build.
I wanted to ask you last night but got sidetracked. What gear did you pull in?
I pulled in 2nd - 4low. It seemed to work pretty well, i think if i would have started in 3rd it would have been to much gear to start with off the line.
Ford141 you must get around, where are you from? USA East comes back to Clearfield in mid September but you have to pull the weight that the points guys do so im not sure if its worth it to pull at that one.
I usually attend most of the pulls in the western Pa area. I only pull at a few of them, since I'm just a street stock guy and my junk can't run with the big dogs, but my diesel buddies hit up most of the Full Pull Productions events, except for a few of the Ohio events (too far to drive). I will most likely be at the event in September, since that's the finals, but I won't be pulling. Not even worth it to haul my junk up there just to get my butt wiped.
Yea im ten minutes from Clearfield and its not worth pulling at an event that you dont have a chance of winning, PM me if your heading to the pull in September, i should be there as well
No it wasent the clutch, its the leaking rear main with oil falling on the headers, still trying to figure out the rear main seal leak, the motor is back at the engine builders shop now to try to get this issue solved.
Great video guys. Love watching the truck pulls... especially the highboys since I also have one. Maybe some day I'll give it a try. One suggestion on taking the video is you might try a monopod which is basically a fancy stick you put the camera on. That will smooth things out quite a bit. Keep posting those pulling vids!
Not trying to be a video know-it-all I've just got some experience there.
Since I've got a couple of dents I'm interested... I know you've talked about the engine but what other set up is done on this type of truck for pulling?

Its bone stock other than the 35" tires on it, i plan on making ladder bars to help with the hopping but for this local class you cant run them anyway. Some front weights and adjusting the tire pressure would have helped but i didnt have time to do either because i got the motor in hours before the pull.
