Better sounding chime

Anyone experimented with a better sounding chime? Maybe something from a Cadillac or a Lincoln. Something with a little class!

Never heard anyone complain about the stock one .....other than annoying...why not just unhook it?

A real chime

I don't mind it talking too me. I'm at the age that I could actually drive off with the door open and my seatbelt off without the government reminder. I just want it to be a little less demanding. Like maybe a real chime.

So no one experimented with other sounding chimes. Just love it or lose it. Amazing since everyone changes phone rings etc. I am looking for something like you would hear in a Lincoln or Cadillac. Something less annoying than the Excursion.

I'm sure it would be relatively simple to put any sound you wanted in there. The Red Alert klaxon from Star Trek would be a good start...

Find the wire going to the chime and bypass/clip it or put some electrical tape over the contact on the ignition cylinder. Then run the chime wire to a module of some sort that has the sound pre-programmed. Or just bypass it altogether so you don't have to hear it although I personally would not do it because I'm bad about leaving headlights on and the last time I had a car that did not chime when the lights were left on had a dead battery probably once every few months...
