i just installed a 3g alt. Im a little unsure of a few things. Do i need to run a ground wire or is it self grounding? My truck has the 5 gauge cluster so do i still need to wire in a resistor to the hot switch side? New alt. is putting out a steady 14.4 volts. Thought this may be little high. What do yall think?Truck is a 69 with with your typical electric upgrades , fan, stereo, headlights.
The 3g I picked up today did not have a dedicated ground on it, I'm pretty sure it grounds through the mounts. 14.4v is fine, a "12v" battery usually needs a couple extra volts to get to a full change @ 12v, and car electrical is built with that in mind.
