OK sports fans, for anyone who cares I got my SCT in the mail today I had trouble loading the tune and called Mike who was as helpful as he could be, told me he'd call me right back after he called SCT tech support. He called, had me call them direct as I had an unusual error code 1034 and it wouldn't let me load the tune. Tech had me reload the stock tune, then try again. I didn't need to stay on the phone with them since it takes a bit to go thru the whole process, tech said to call him back (in central Florida) if it didn't load. Well, it loaded fine and I took 'er for a spin. Wow, definately an improvement! It takes 3-5x with the adaptive strategies to relearn again but it went up hills by my house with less effort and shifting is def. improved. It downshifted quickly instead of lugging down. I am running a "hybrid" tune I guess of 87 performance/towing and so far I am very pleased! Mike rocks
when you get bored with that tow tune, have them send a 92 octane performance tune your way...have fun smoking the tires.
It's only a $5 difference ($0.20 upcharge @ roughly 25 gallons) filling up the tank. I've been buying 91/92 octane for almost 4 yrs now (Mustang 92 octane tuned and the supercharged F-150 before that)...I don't really notice the price difference between 87 and 92 anymore.
Mine is all kinds of odd--even with the AFE intake he sold me.
I sent him an email and hadn't heard from him couple weeks--can't be disappointed since I haven't bothered picking up the phone, work has me slammed.
I'm still at 13.9 MPG period--about 400 miles a tank.
DBW is much cleaner and shifting normal--however at certain times if I'm cruising through a gear and I decide I need to ride it out more and I hammer down more throttle--DB kinda like we use to do when we run our gears out with slow steady increasing pedal on the diesels--it starts sorta lugging like it's choking.
Dunno. Maybe the 100+ degree days we have? I just took it out in a mere 73F (massive wind and cool temps right now, weird) and I was spinning tyres all over the place with traction control off.
I guess I miss my diesel. Might be what it is, I haven't owned a gas truck in 10 years. I just feel like I'm driving a 1984 Datsun sometimes.
Storm, that's not like Mike to not respond. In fact, I emailed him last week (Wednesday I think) with some questions on my tune and he got back to me within 2 hours.
Don't bail on Mike just yet. I'm 100% positive about his responses.
My last contact with him was on 9/15. I sent him the email at 8:44am and he shot back at 9:15am.
I'll send you a PM with the email I used for him.
Thats funny! No, I haven't had any wierdness at all. I hear ya about missing the diesel (power, that is- none of the headaches it had become though ) The only thing I noticed was an increased catalytic converter odor. At first I thought it was just the vehicles in front of me, but I noticed it when I was standing next to the drivers door with the truck off one morning when I was getting gas. I might switch gas stations and see if thats it, maybe Wawa is getting some bad gas? I really like the way it drives now, better shifting and more power. Not gobs like an ASE tune on the 6.0 had but it is what it is
BTW thats about where I'm at, city mpg. Haven't had it on the hiway as I'm working close to home for awhile (about 15 mi).
