I just scrolled through all 9 years worth of vehicles with Type 3s in the catalog, they all say aluminum.

Perhaps this is one of the inaccuracies of the catalog, it's not known to be 100% error-free.

Hopefully this will clear up some of the confusion.

Type 3 and Type 5 as pictured are the most comon on F-250/F-350.

Type 5 were the only dog dish caps used on the F-250/F-350 between 1978-1984. No Type 3's from the factory on F-250/F-350 before 1985.

Type 5: 1978-1991/up F-250/F-350: E-150/E-350:

Aluminum Finish: 1978-1991/up
-Front: 4x2: D8TZ-1130-C
-Front: 4x4: E4TZ-1130-A
-Rear: 4x2/4x4: D8TZ-1130-C

Matte Finish: 1978-1991/up
-Front or Rear: 4x2: D8TZ-1130-D

Type 3 were used 1977 and up F-100/F-150s: They were not used on the F-250/F-350 untill 1985.

1977-1991/up: F-100/F-150 and E-100/E-150 and 1978-1991 U/150:
-Front and Rear 4x2: and Rear 4x4: D7TZ-1130-A
-Front: 4x4: D7TZ-1130-B

1985-1991/up F-250/F-350:
-Front: 4x2: E5TZ-1130-F
-Front: 4x4: E5TZ-1130-E
-Rear: 4x2/4x4: Semi Float: E5TZ-1130-F
-Rear: 4x2/4x4: Full Float: E5TZ-1130-D

Type 2 was also used 1976 up F-100/F-350 but a beauty ring had to be installed for use on the F-250/F-350 wheels. Type 2 was not used on 4x4s.

1976-1991: F-100/F-150 and E-100/E-150: D6TZ-1130-A

1976-1991: F250/F-350 and E/250/E-350: D6TZ-1130-A : Needs beauty ring: E5TZ-1210-A

I have a set off my son's 96 F250. Not new but not trashed either. Lil dents and one has a hole where someone tried to pry it off it looks like. Make me an offer + shipping.

I think it is one of the rear ones. I'll try and get pics. May take a day or so.

I have the type sixes on my bronco. I thought they where special. One popped off when I was going in a parking lot and managed to roll in front of the wheel it came off of and crunch. I guess I can trash them now.

I wouldn't trash the type sixes.

Reconditioned (Like new) Type sixes go for about $120. Although the junkyard is cheaper.
