My X has 263k miles today and the valve covers have never been off. The only thing I've done is torture them with used french fry grease for fuel (I still start and stop on diesel though...).
The injectors in my F350 checked out fine after 240k and 50k on the high-cholesterol diet. Swapped in Stage 1.5's (as PM ).
I helped a friend change injectors with 380k miles on them (160k on 'grease') last summer - he did have a 'bad' injector though.
Fuel quality and fuel pressure are key to long injector life. I think a fuel pressure gauge is as important as a fuel level gauge.
I'm all stock tuning wise (AIS and 4in turbo-back are my mods) and I just tested them at 200k when I did O-rings and GP's and all was well. I suspect you can get at least 300k out of a stock set if you don't run any hot tunes, and of course keep the fuel filter changed regularly. I do 99.9% long hauls on the highway, and I've been using Diesel Kleen in every tank for a while as well as 10k or less Motorcraft fuel filters and Delo/Rotella/Delvac every 4k max. I think that's what really keeps these things alive, fluids and filters.
thanks everybody doesn't look good for 300k and above . ive changed my oil every time and fuel filters regularly .i just don't wanna rebuild them to pull and replace them in 100k would rather bite the bullet now get new and go another 270k i guess. thanks for your responses

You can have them tested before buying new ones. I'd wager if you're aren't having running problems now, they are still probably good for a while yet as it sounds like you've kept up on fluids and filters.
180k did O-rings. 3+ of the lower O-rings were half rotted. Signs of rubbing mid boddy on 1/2 of the injectors makes me think the loft on the middle O-rings was gone. The truck showed zero symtpoms. It had just been on my list of things to get to...
I had 210k on mine stock injectors. It finally wouldnt start when it got a little cold, injectors were shot. Bought the truck with 100k on it, so Im not sure how it was taken care of before that.
How do you guys feel about changing the oil in the top end? Does it really help? I have 105K on the clock and have been wondering about changing it or not
Any part inside the injector can be replaced but if you replace one thing there is probably something else that should be replaced in conjunction. That diagram is an abbreviated list of the internals. This exploded veiw shows all.
