Good morning guys.... I had started a thread a few days back titled Icp not working after hpop change. Does anyone know of a test i can do to for sure tell me its the icp? My test is simple and maybe not correct.... I connect the icp and 30 seconds later truck throws fits. I unplug it and everything back to normal. Plug it back in and 30 seconds later throws fits again! I just replaced the icp in Feb due to oil in plug, and I hate like H E double toothpicks to drop another 180.00 on one if its something else. Its considered an electrical part and not returnable if plastic bag is opened...... any help would be awesome... Bill
i read your previous thread, (but had nothing to offer), and just so happened, stumbled upon a different/similar thread, on another site, from googling, which happened to have a similar problem like yours. It had said about a BRAND NEW oem electrical part, being bad, right outta the bag....i'll dig around to find it, but i think your icp went south on ya.
Thanks Timmyboy, Thats what I am thinking. Athough, I took the ICP off today again (someone had posted a while back that it might have an air bubble trapped in the sensor), and I unplugged every connection that I had disconnected to be able to install hpop, and now its been idling in the driveway for 15 minutes and is being a good girl! Go figure.... Not saying its fixed, (have nt put a load on it yet), but is is acting different!
Ok ... Just took it out for a test spin. Absolutely hammered on it where the law couldnt be hiding! Except for my oil soaked clutch still slipping in higher gears, she ran flawless! Its still idling in the driveway and being good! I know if it was gonna act up again,it would have done it by now. Dont know what the problem was or what I did, But I ll take it! Keeping my fingers crossed !!!
That was one of my concerns... When I had it all apart I took the opportunity to clean and re o-ring the fuel bowl and clean and re o-ring the IPR, (followed guzzles directions). I kept thinking I did something wrong with the IPR and how hard it was going to be to get it out with the fuel bowl and hpop installed! And I did loctite the IPR nut! Anyway, who knows, Maybe its my turn to have some good luck with these trucks!!!!! Thanks a million dude!
This is due to the stupidest thing Ford ever did... Everything from the engine valley runs into the bellhousing and contaminates the clutch!!!!!
I fixed this on my engine:
Also, I have a nearly new OE-replacement clutch set, solid mass flywheel and even a kevlar pilot bushing for sale if you're interested. Its in perfect condition and was in my truck under 8k miles - never slipped once. Clutch set was $500 and has lifetime warranty (with included receipt) from Autozone. MAKE OFFER! (I can prolly even be persuaded to deliver it on the way to N.E.S.T. gtg in October...)
Yeah everyone keeps telling me "it'll burn off in a while''. I'am hoping it will, but I fear so much oil went in there that I may have to put a new one in. I'am gonna give it a while longer to ''clean itself up'' and thanks for the offer, but i have a connection at my local stealership that gets me my parts for cost. I take it that is soft copper fitted into the valley drain hole and the other end is left open to drain ?

Good luck with the burn-off theory...
Yes, the 1/2" copper is stuck into the valley and out the drain hole at the bottom. If it was soft copper, I wouldn't have kinked it... I just used high-temp RTV to 'seal' the tubing.
