Trans Leak
Monday was service day for my truck. I get it serviced every six months like the manual says as I do not meet the milage mark for service intervals. The service I had done was only engine oil, filter, rotate tires check fluid levels. Nothing to do with the trans.
So I drive it home monday afternoon after the service. Park it go inside for about four hours. Come back outside and there it was, pink as bright is the day underneath. My knees became weak and I screamed NO NOT ME.
Checked underneath, the crossmember that is underneath the rear of the trans pan was dripping tranny fluid. All the bolts that secured the pan on seemed to be wet with pink tranny fluid. Everything above the pan seemed to be dry. Though you could smell the burning smell of the fluid, (I think it was dripping on the exhaust and burning). I ran my finger along side of the gasket and fluid was there as well. So I was hoping that it was just a gasket thing.
Take it to the dealer (warranty) They call me the next day and said that the truck did not throw any codes. The Tranny tech stated that it leaked through the pan gasket and that was all. They are going to replace the gasket and power wash the underneath.
I know that nothing lasts forever. But with only 5500 miles I would expect a gasket to last for sometime. Any input, and is this a reasonable malfunction for the time and milage that I have. I know that the truck sat for along time before I purchased it and it sits for a week at a time then I use it.
Thanks
