My truck is stalling when the engine is over 2000 rpm... Then it starts right up also runs fine in park and neutral only dies when it is in drive.... Ran full diagnostic at dealer and no codes were shown every thing checked out... even drove it around with dealer computer attached and got symptoms to repeat... Any one else ever experience any thing similar to this ???? The repair guy is starting to throw parts at it hoping to eliminate various sensors so far the cam sensor and the crank sensor have been tried with no luck.......please, I cant afford to have my truck down much longer
@ a711112a, it depends on what computer your dealer is using to diagnose. if its a small mom n pop general dealer in all sorts of cars kinda fella, then he may not have the actual ford diagnostic computer. those things are expensive, bout 10k to start. if he dont have tat ford computer, then he cannot pull up ALL engine codes. any other computer can only check about close to 20% of ur entire engine. only an actual FORD computer can pull everything up.
i might have something similar except mine was more drastic. completely died on me and many parts failed. previous owner never followed specified maintenance schedule from ford.
u might have a bad fuel pump or bad fuel pump regulator from the sound of it. but also, check ur high pressure oil system as well.
on ur model, cam sensors and crank sensors rarely go out.
check ur IPR valve / sensor. i believe there is a new updated STC fitting tat ford designed for use in our 6.0s
also, if ur computer software is not updated on ur car, the check engine lights or error codes are slow as hell to even show up. just fyi.
hope this info helps. i shall see wat i can do wif doing more research and finding out more info for u. in the mean time, keep me posted either thru here or via email or instant messaging.
good luck! dont commit and agree to anything right off the bat. the mechanics are gonna throw the kitchen sink at u and ur gonna be stuck wif the bill. if u dont need to pay $10000, why do it? i should know. i was stupid once and i learnt the painful way.
Stalling at the higher rpms, is often times the IPR valve from what I understand. Might talk to the dealership about diagnosing that. If you have a Scangauge, you can get some readings on IPR duty cycle and ICP pressure. Post them up.
@ a711112a, i'm tinking it might not be a ford computer, cos tink bout it like tis for a sec. ur having probs, the car's computer will record the error codes. if his computer cannot pull up the error codes, then it aint a ford computer. also, there are more than 20 computer modules all over ur car's engine.
be careful and make sure he do not try to reset the car's computer, cos then all the error codes will be erased, and if u decide to take it to a licensed ford mechanic, he'll have to charge u more for diagnosing the same probs again, cos it'll take longer to reproduce the error codes again.
all trucks have codes, system pass, p1000 are still both codes. also p0603 maybe setting in your case.
yes I have seen the likes of this type of concern before.
up date........... talked to the tech and his diagnostic machine is from ford so we are good there......Cheezit, would a faulty ground conection cause a p0603 ?
good. tat eliminates a lot of menial factors..... keep prodding...... we'll all help..... but the more u prod, the closer u'll get to the root cause of ur probs.
