TPMS delete/disable on 2011????

So i got rid of my conticrap tires and went with a set of BFG a/t 305/65R18's. When i left the the tire dealer the light was on as they said it would be so i followed the directions in the owners manual under the section replacement tires, the light went off but only for 20 miles now its right back on! So now im wondering if theres a disable option that maybe the dealer could turn off for me???? Its like its punishing me for putting good tires on it lol. Any imput would be great!

check all the tires and make sure they are at the same air pressure

sounds stupid, but if they aren't within 3-5 psi of each other it'll trip the TPMS

Do you want TPMS???

IF not its pretty simple to have the dealer turn it off. Cost should be under 50.00

that would be against Federal law...all 2007 and newer vehicles are required to have TMPS unless they are off-road only, or certain commercial vehicles

Your dealer can adjust the TPMS to accommodate the new tire psi recommendation.

It's dependent on the GVWR as well, 10k and under requires them, over 10k does not. My truck has a GVWR of 11,200 so if I wanted to get rid of it, I could...legally

Thats sucks its required by law. I'll be goin in for my first oil change here within the week so i'll see if my dealer can at least adjust it. What a PITA system, If i knew someone would turn it off i'd gladly have it done! We're grown men here i think we can keep an eye on our own tires lol!!

you would think so. Remember the whole Firestone incident back in early 2000/2001? That was the start. People need direction from Papa Gov't

TPMS

I have had this problem also. But mine began with me putting a set of Harley wheels and larger tires with TPMS already installed from an '08 model truck. After I was unable to get the TPMS to recognize the new sensors, I asked the dealer as was told that the '11 TPMS is only compatible with an '11 vehicle. So one day I will load up my old tires and wheels and have them changed out, I guess.

It used to be you could check with your dealer about adjusting, but most were saying it couldn't be done. Mostly because they didn't know where to look. Unfortunately, there was an update to their software which not prevents them from adjusting the lower threshold. Only the upper can be adjusted now.
