Electrical Issue
Electrical Issue
1995 F150 XLT 4.9L 2WD, Having issue with my rear tank. When i try to start my truck from the rear tank it wont crank right off the bat, it does off the front. Also when going from front tank to back tank sometimes my truck will show a loss in voltage major and will start to shake a bit than if i rev my motor will go back to normal and sometimes i have to hold the truck at a higher rpm in park to keep it from shutting off when i let off gas. I never have this issue with the front tank. Is there a voltage sensor that might be bad leading to the rear tank? Not sure if it is mechanical or electric. But due to the fact that its only the rear idk what else it could be. It is a short bed single cab as well. Not sure if that helps with tank size and fuel pump size. Please let me know any issues or things i can do to solve this. Making a long Haul to TN from FL in a few days and want a smooth transition as i go up for college.
To be honest i cant tell, only reason i said drop in voltage is i can see my battery voltage gauge in my cluster start to drop and if i rev my motor it all works out fine.. sometimes i have to hold it and idle at a higher rpm range and it will stay good. I honestly have no clue. I occurs alot at idle at a red light if i have A/C on, Lights and radio going all at same time and it slowly goes down than boom rumbles and i have to rev it. But only on REAR tank. Doesnt do it on front tank.
Sounds like wither the pump going out or maybe sludge in the tank. However you should be able to start just fine if it was junk in tank. The fuel filter should be after the tank selector valve, but you could always replace that it see. Or even possibly the have itself, I dont have one on the Bronco so I dont know for sure. The voltage gauge prolly drops because it goes off RPMs and your motor bogs down, this you having to rev it up, returning the gauge to normal.
So all in all look at getting a new fuel pump eventually and checking tank for sludge? but yes it does not start off rear tank unless i basically prime it by doing 2 starts in a sense to get the fuel flow going
