After being rebuilt in 2007 the infamous E4OD tranny in my rig supposedly needs to be rebuilt again... the shop in question would charge me with $2.000 for parts and labor (local rates in my country)... I think I am about to be robbed?!...
-Now, is it worth rebuilding the tranny or should I instead swap into a cheaper, more reliable C-6 tranny (which I had stock in my late 1992 Bronco w/a 300 BB6 engine) or even get the two (engine plus tranny, which would cost me even less than the repair I mentioned above, say, getting a carbed 351W coupled w/ a C-6 tranny). My stock engine is a 302 EFI in good shape but whose performance keeps me dissatisfied...?, what should I do...?.
Fuel consumption is not really an issue here, since the difference would not be great, aside from the fact that my truck runs on compressed natural gas (50% fuel savings vs. gasoline), and I prefer reliability vs. fuel economy, after all, the mighty Bronco will always be a gas hog, but it is still worth owning despite that... What to do then? Thank you in advance...

Have you pulled codes? Any in the 600's? Remember the E4OD like the engine is all controlled by the PCM. Is the PCM happy with the natural gas conversion? No engine codes? A 2007 rebuild might have included the 1995 upgrade, maybe not. Last year I priced a mechanic's cost E4OD Ford rebuild at about $2,350 for parts alone.
If you want better performance, go with that C6/351 combo you mentioned, you will be more satisfied with the results. Yet i would prefer keeping the truck an EFI if possible...
