The torque converter is something you really shouldn't skimp on. IMHO. Give Racer X a call I've heard good things about them. The flex plate I would think is the same. Check for cracks. Bronco Graveyard has the spindles. Yukon gear and axle would also would have them. Randy's ring and pinion carries the Yukon stuff.
Just not sure about the flex plate because I've seen a year difference in the torque converters. Some are pre-95 with a 4 bolt converter, others are 96+ with a 6 bolt converter...
Makes me think that they are different. So I have my '95 2wd trans and TC now, swapping in a 4x4 trans from a '96 that has the TC with it. Might have to use a '95 TC unless I want to switch flexplates?
Looked at Racer X and he has a triple-disc billet converter for a good price. $620 for a '95 and earlier 4 bolt converter, and $760 for a 96+ 6 bolt converter.
Now I don't know for sure about this. But I cant find anything that confirms the flexplate issue. In my mind all the 94.5-97 flexplates are six bolt. Like I said I'm not sure. Hopefully somebody will chime in to confirm one way or the other. Pre 94.5 might be four bolt.
Looking closer at my spindles they have a little grease and crud on them but they're not pitted or anything. I'm gonna try to clean them up real good first before buying new ones.
I guess I can count the studs on my '95 sometime and figure out the flexplate issue. The X6TC is about $150 more than the X4TC for the earlier 4 bolt ones... oh well, I want to put a good TC in it when I do the swap.
