This is my first post.
I recently purchased a 1977 F250 Custom SuperCab Camper Special. Its 2wd, 460, C6, no AC. It's blue with racetrack molding. It had been sitting in a field in Saratoga, Calif. since 2004. I picked it up for $1700.
It has minimal rust and approximately 126k miles. I was able to drive it home. However, all the rubber is shot. The radiator and transmission are leaking badly. I have to fix several things before I can even get it smogged and registered. I am posting all the information I have on the doors. It appears to be all original.
The VIN is X25JKY92657.
WB 155
Color S8
GVW X259
Body ABH or ABM (Can't tell last letter)
Trans G
Axle C7E
Build date is 06/77
Other info on door is F0033/T0611
My question is what color is S8? (Truck is Dark Blue and Baby Blue)
What does X259 mean?
And what axle do I have? Are you able to tell whether or not I have early or late model 1977.
Thanks, and I will post pics as soon as I can.
Dan
S=Bright Dark Blue Metallic, 8=Light Blue
Description and GVW Rating:
X259=F250 2WD Super Cab Pickup 8100 (GVW Rating)
Axles:
C7=3.54(Gear Ratio) 5.3M Dana (Spicer) 60 Limited Slip, E=With Power Steering
Going off the last part of that VIN, as far as i can tell its late model.
Welcome to FTE
Saratoga is just 20 miles South of me! Just look for the Red & White 79 F350 driving around.
I recently got rid of my 2008 Dodge Ram with 6.7 Cummins. I refuse to keep paying this state $800 a year for registration, high diesel fuel prices, and now smog checks.
Steve,
I actually live in Livermore. My plan is to restore this truck so I can pull my toy hauler to local dirt bike riding areas (Frank Raines, Carnegie and Hollister). I would love to do a frame up restore, but funds are limited.
My immediate plans are new tires and rims, rebuild transmission, brake system, cooling system, alternator upgrade, Class V hitch, suspension, engine tune-up and passenger side floorpan.
I'm sure I will have lots of questions along the way. I plan to take a lot of pics as I work on this truck. I'm in my mid 40s and have always liked 73 to 79 Ford Trucks. Hopefully, I'm not biting off more than I can chew because this vehicle needs a ton of work.
Dan
